Advice on arguing the trivial points of our Faith

Simply: Don’t

because there’s a good chance it doesn’t even matter. As Christians the question we should always ask ourselves is: “is God getting the glory?” If our goal in arguing the merits of Calvinism verses [insert opposing theology here] isn’t to glorify God but rather to prove what we believe about our God (whom our goal is to glorify…) then you have to wonder if you’re not actually seeking your own glory and vindication. We should be pushing our brothers and sisters in Christ towards unity and towards worship of God and we should be setting an example for the non-believer so they don’t look at us and wonder what our God actually even offers if we cant even get along.

Yes, it’s necessary and even fun to delve into our faith and discover more about how different people have come to different conclusions about scripture… But is the need to be right really worth the cost of being divisive? I say our time is better spent studying God and worshiping him with songs of praise and thanksgiving as we look for ways to reflect his love to our brothers and sisters and to the world.

ultimately, I believe He will be more pleased with how we lived out our Faith instead of how well we could argue for it.
